A mini stroke can sometimes appear as sudden confusion. The person may not know where they are, may answer questions strangely, or may seem suddenly “not themselves.”
This can be confusing for family members because the symptoms may look like dementia, fatigue, dehydration, stress, or medication side effects. But the key difference is sudden onset. If confusion appears quickly, especially with any other stroke-like symptom, it should be treated seriously.
Sudden confusion is one of the stroke warning signs listed by the CDC.
