A TIA is often called a “warning stroke” because it may signal a higher risk of a future stroke. Even if the person seems better after a few minutes, they still need urgent medical evaluation. The American Stroke Association explains that a TIA does not usually cause permanent damage, but it is a warning sign that a full stroke may happen later.
This is especially important in elderly people. In older adults, mini stroke symptoms may be mistaken for tiredness, dizziness, confusion, poor sleep, medication effects, or normal aging. But stroke and TIA symptoms usually appear suddenly, and sudden changes should never be ignored.
